About Me

Hello, my name is Yostina and I am from Egypt. I started my love for Korea since 2013 when I watched the Korean drama "Boys Over Flowers" on MBC4, a popular Arabian TV channel. I watched the drama dubbed in Arabic and it was my launching point into falling in love with Korea and its language, culture, and almost everything Korean. As I became more fascinated with the drama and its OST, Original Sound Tracks, that would often play as background music; and as it was not possible to dub the songs, I had the chance to listen to the Korean language and I could not help but feel like it was a very musical language. The sounds of it always flew smoothly with the music making me fall in love with it and want to learn it. So I actually did learn Korean on my own online through many websites and my article "My Korean Learning Journey" explains how I began.

Later, I would watch other dramas online subtitled in English and read the lyrics of their OSTs and learn Korean through them and I kept learning Korean on my own and dive solo in this culture till 2016 when I became aware of Korea.net honorary reporter program and joined a lovely family of fellow honorary reporters from ALL over the world. I first wanted to be an honorary photographer but as I live far from the capital, Cairo which the Korean culture center is located in, I could not find anything related to Korea to photograph and send as my contribution to the site, so I had to write articles. As I kept writing, I discovered my love for writing, something I never thought I had and so, I started blogging not just here but in my other blog, Hearty Fairy, in which I blog about my thoughts and ideas about topics other than Korea. I have Koea.net to thank for discovering my love for writing :)
